"The Chinese in me" | 2019
The project "The Chinese in Me" in Suriname was a joint initiative by the Chinese embassy, the Association of Chinese Surinamese, and the Suriname-China Friendship Association. It aims to explore the Chinese heritage of descendants of Chinese immigrants in Suriname, through activities such as:

Photo exhibitions: Events showcasing Surinamese-Chinese people and their roots.

Root-seeking trips: Organised trips to China for descendants to trace their ancestors and visit ancestral homes.

Community involvement: Activities highlighting the cultural and historical significance of Chinese people in Suriname and promoting a deeper understanding of their identity and integration in the multilingual Surinamese society.
This project not only celebrates the Chinese presence in Suriname but also promotes cultural exchange and heritage preservation.
