On 24 October, the Snesie& foundation is hosting a heritage tori-oso at the Central Library in Rotterdam.
In a heritage tori-oso, unknown stories are shared and historical awareness and identity strength are reinforced.
This time, Charles Chang will take the audience through a special untold history: children sent to China so they wouldn't forget their roots and culture. A life-changing choice that affected both the child and the family.
We'll have a conversation together about this heritage/history. How does it feel to return to a place that no longer feels like home and what are the social consequences? And just as important: How does the community now preserve and pass on the Surinamese-Chinese culture?
The heritage tori-osos are a follow-up to the kick-off of the Snesie& foundation on 17 October. Even if you weren't at the kick-off, you're very welcome to join. The programme is the same for all three meetings; when you sign up, you choose one date.
